The Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine

 

Introduction

Set up in 1956, the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the 4 earliest established TCM universities in China, which is the Sichuan provincial key university and co-constructed by the provincial government and the State Administration of TCM, and evaluated an excellent grade in the National Evaluation of Undergraduate Education.

    The University is located in the Chengdu City of Sichuan, a place with a reputation of “hometown of Chinese Medicine & treasure house of medicinal herbs" and hometown of pandas. It is as large as 120 hectare in campus. The library has a collection of 1.29 million copies of books. The staff is over 2,000, including 600 professors and associate professors, among which 300 are tutors of master and doctoral students. There are over 20,000 students, including 400 from overseas. The University has a TCM Great Master, a 1st Position Scientist of the State 973 Project, and a National Excellent Teacher, etc..

The University provides 29 majors for undergraduates, 49 subjects for master degree and 16 for Ph.D conferment. There are 4 national key subjects, 20 ministerial/provincial key subjects and the major-"Chinese Pharmacy"-the sole State Polytechnic Base for Research and Teaching personnel training; 6 national special majors, 3 national good teaching groups, and one innovative/ experimental garden. There are 57 national/ministerial centers or labs, such as the State Key Lab Culture Base, the State-Level Experimental Teaching Model Center, the State Herbal Pieces Preparation Engineering Research Center, the Education Ministry Key Labs, the Education Ministry Engineering Research Center, and the Finance Ministry's centrally/locally co-built labs, and so on. Also there are 4 affiliated hospitals and 60 teaching hospitals, being the important base for students' clinical practice. The 1st affiliated hospital is the State TCM Clinical Research Base of Diabetes.

    Since 80s last century, the University has accepted foreign students from 32 countries, having trained over 6,000 participants in a large variety of programs, including Chinese Medicine, Chinese Pharmacy and Acupuncture & Moxibustion.

    The University is awarded the "China-ASEAN Education/Training Center" by the Education Ministry and the Foreign Affairs Ministry, "TCM International Sci-Tech Cooperation Base" by the Sci-Tech Ministry, "TCM International Exchange & Cooperation Education Base and Medicine Base" by the State Administration of TCM, "WHO Research Cooperation Center of Human Reproduction", and "South-South Co-Training Center" by UN Population Fund.

Fees

Estimated Costs of Self-financed Students Studying in China (RMB)

1.       Registration Fee: 800 yuan /person

2.       Tuition Fee:

Bachelor’s Degree: 2500 yuan / academic year

Master’s Degree: 3000 yuan / academic year  (38000 yuan / year for English Teaching)

Doctoral Degree: 3800 yuan / academic year  (45000 yuan / year for English Teaching)

Chinese Language Trainees: 6200 yuan / term, 12000 yuan / academic year

Trainees: Group: 5200 yuan / four weeks ( with Translation Costs included),

Personal: 6400 yuan / four weeks

 

3.       Textbook Fee: Subject to the Marked Price

4.       Accommodation Fee: 80 yuan / day for Single Room; 150 yuan/ day for Double Room

Featured Educational Projects for Foreign Students (English Teaching Majors)

We have offered the following courses in English, such as Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Tuina for Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and Doctoral degree and Basic Theories of TCM for Master’s degree and Doctoral degree. Meanwhile, specialized courses taught in English are available for the whole year or professional interpreters accompany teachers to finish short-term training programs on TCM or Acupuncture, especially open to the students who have mastered basic theories of TCM or practitioners of acupuncture or TCM who need further education. Besides, special training courses are provided for western medicine doctors to learn more about TCM and acupuncture.
